The Great Balancing Act...

Bipartisan Struggle: Taxes and Benefits

* Unemployment funds running out...
* Tax that can't be decided on...
* Health care that wants to be scraped...
* Social Security that is broken...
* Medicare/Medicaid out of money...
* Jobs...
* Deficit...
* Don't ask, don't tell...
* START ( Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty)...
* North Korea...
* Afghanistan...
* Iran...

These are just a few of the many items (PROBLEMS) that are, or should be on Congress agenda. Some, like the Unemployment situation and the Tax issue are urgent.

So, how does Congress go about prioritizing the agenda? How would you prioritize these PROBLEMS? Which PROBLEM would you fix first?

Net Zero Tax... The Concept

Now that I am retired, I have lots of time to sit around and think of things.
I like to think about recent goings on in the country, and particularly in the Government.
One of my more interesting subjects is our Income Tax system.
The current Income tax situation has gotten so complicated it takes a computer and an accountant (maybe two) to figure it all out. I propose a much simpler scheme.
For lack of a better term I will call it "Net Zero". Here is how it works.

More Jobs II

Tax cuts for Business...

 Seems to be the thing to do to restore jobs, or at least that is the impression one would get when following all the government rhetoric these days.

More Jobs...

Seems like a great deal of what I hear regarding "Jobs" is to give tax cuts to small business will create jobs.
Now, in and of itself I have no issue with giving small business tax cuts. Where I have an issue is how this will "Create jobs".

Percents and Absolutes

Ever wonder why some things are based on Absolutes and some things are base on Percentage?

Jobs...

Unless you have been living on a small desert island somewhere in the Pacific for the last few years, then you know that the unemployment rate in our Country is the worse it has been for decades.
A question then might be... Why?

The Pile...

Specifically, the pile, or "Stuff" I am speaking of is... (Ugh)  MONEY.
Where did it all come from? How did it start? Will it keep growing? Are there ramifications?

KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE ROAD

Read an interesting column in the Newspaper. The columnist was writing regarding "texting" and Cell phone use while driving.

Followup with Percents (%)

Recall that in my previous Blog that we had some fun with % (percent)...
It looked like this...

Percent (%) & "Median"

Following the daily newspapers, there seems to be much emphasis placed on Percent (%) and "Median", so I thought that it might be interesting if we "explore" each of these items...
Here goes...

The Wall Street Pirates

My apologies for the blurring of the chart. It is fairly complex but I believe once explained you will see where I am going.
First off, let me explain how to read the chart...

These days there seems to be a lot of commotion regarding SPENDING and most of it seems to be centered on the government (BIG BROTHER).

SS Reform - HOW

It is such that I read and hear all throughout the media that a great many feel that SS needs reforming.

Essentially what I read and hear is the "WHAT". I do NOT hear the HOW.

So within this writing I will attempt to address the "HOW".
